“The Leadership and Management strategies at DBIS are now of the highest quality and depth comparable to many schools that we visit and far in advance of most.”

Take Our Virtual Tour
Welcome to our virtual tour. We hope it gives you a taste of what our great Secondary School campus has to offer. This year, we hosted a special Secondary School Open Day Webinar. If you would like to watch a recording of the event, please click here.
Introduction to Secondary School
The Secondary School at DBIS has established a culture of excellence in teaching and learning, with a prime focus on providing every student with a supportive and caring environment that enables them to fulfil their potential.
The school’s unique location and surrounding environment offer our students fantastic opportunities for extended and experiential learning, and our extensive facilities support the broad range of subjects offered at DBIS Secondary.
Students are encouraged to challenge themselves academically by engaging in experiences that take them beyond their comfort zone and allow them to discover and demonstrate their true capabilities. High expectations of our students coupled with the rigour of the English National Curriculum ensure excellent academic outcomes, and our graduating students have taken up places at world-class universities in the UK, US, Europe and Australia.
DBIS Secondary phase prides itself on providing a holistic education, with student wellbeing at the centre of everything we do. Underpinning this approach is a well-developed pastoral care system, where a single tutor supports students throughout their time in the Secondary phase. Each tutor conducts regular one-to-one meetings with the students in their care, ensuring the children feel actively supported in the goal of reaching their full potential.
Strong academic foundations are laid in Years 7 to 9 through an engaging concept-based curriculum, equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need for their IGCSE and A Level examinations in the senior years. Small class sizes promote our personalised approach to learning and ensure that each student is fully supported throughout their time in Secondary.
Intrinsic to education at DBIS are the values we instil in the young people in our care. As such, our Values, Mission and Aims represent what we, as a community, aspire to achieve. Through this, we believe we are developing young people to be well-rounded individuals and supporting them to meet the demands of both modern education and life beyond school.
I warmly invite any current or prospective parents and students to come and see the Secondary phase of Discovery Bay International School in action.
