What's Been Happening in Year 5
We have been super busy in Year 5 over the last two weeks.
As the focus was Internationalism last week we used the opportunity to learn more about our lives in Hong Kong. We also used the flags which were around the school to see how many we could spot and locate on a map. This was a great opportunity for us to take our learning outside. Year 5 were fortunate to be asked by Mrs Cornes to lead the whole school assembly at the end of the week. A group of enthusiastic children, aided by Mrs Ashcroft, linked all of the great work which had been happening throughout the week together in Friday’s assembly with great confidence.
This week we have had the much anticipated visit to the Reception classes to meet our buddies for the first time. Both year groups get such a lot
out of these visits and it’s fabulous to see friendships being formed. The Year 5 children loved visiting the Reception classrooms and were greeted by their buddy who showed them where their favourite place was to play. They helped to build castles out of wooden bricks, build lego models, read books and painted Halloween ghost leaves amongst many other activities.
We look forward to many more visits over the next year.
