Year 9 Newsletter
September 14th 2017
This year DBIS has introduced a school diploma program, in which students need to maintain an online record of participation and progress in each strand of the Diploma.
They need to set, review and update goals and reflect on school reports. It will be a website visible by their parents and tutors. As part of the diploma program, students need to evidence involvement in co-curricular activities such as arts, action or service. In this regard, I suggest that each student joins at least one CCA in the first term.
It's great to see some Year 9 taking advantage of the sports offered here and are already involved in the basketball and football teams, swimming practice, badminton, circuit training and boxing. Outside of sport we also have Year 9s signed up for bullet journaling, creative computing, model united nations and robotics, as well as the numerous musical and drama options.
I would like to send my best regards to Ms Amy Lee who has left us on maternity we wish you well and are all very excited to meet the baby. With that, I would like to welcome to Year 9 Mrs Tracey Smal who has taken over her tutor group and Mr Alain Sama the English classes.
A big congratulation needs to go out to some students for their successes outside of school. Roy Nagar and Leo Predieri both passed their KCC football trials and Katy Ward now plays for APSS. Ben Hazen is playing baseball in the Hong Kong Little League. Finally, a huge congratulations to Jonathan Mcdonald who’s numerous hours and dedication has been rewarded and he is now a black belt in karate.
