Secondary School Roundup

Dear Parents/Guardians

As we draw to the end of the school year it is a chance to reflect on all that has happened over the last twelve months. There have undoubtedly been some great highs; individual and group successes in the classroom and beyond and impressively a growing commitment to supporting the wider community. There has also been the most tragic of lows and the way in which staff, students and parents supported each was a clear sign of the caring nature of our school.

The recent awards ceremony highlighted a number of outstanding performances across the year and showcased the exceptional talent that we have within the school. I also spoke to all students about setting their own expectations and taking pride in working towards meeting them. I hope they all spend some time over the summer reflecting on the year and setting their targets for next year.

This end of this year represents a milestone for the school as it is the first time we can simply say to our Year 11 students ‘see you next year’. The introduction of the A Level programme in August is an exciting development for all of us and we look forward to welcoming our first cohort of Senior students.

To all of the staff, students and families that are leaving DBIS at the end of the year, I wish you well in all of your future endeavours. Please know that you will always be a part of the DBIS community and we look forward to hearing of all of your future success. For those travelling abroad, should you ever find yourself back in Hong Kong we will welcome you back to visit us.

Finally I would like to thank all of you for your on-going support of the Secondary School. I am always amazed by the extra lengths so many people go to to make our school great.

I hope you have an enjoyable summer break,
Mike Waller
Head of Secondary
