Year 9 Newsletter
As we approach the end of the academic year, it provides an opportunity to reflect on the tremendous successes and achievements of our Year 9 students in all facets of the DBIS community.
I have been hugely impressed by them as a Year group and congratulate them on three fantastic terms of excellence.
Further congratulations to our new House Captains for the forthcoming year. Emilie Skovfoged (Storm), Tyler Ikeda (Thunder), Ryan Mae Zawada (Typhoon) and Alexandra Vogiadjis (Lightning) all gave mature and aspirational speeches that in no small part contributed to their election as House Captains. I have no doubt they will lead their respective houses by example and be superb members of the student leadership team. Many thanks to all students whom applied, there will be further leadership roles open for application in August.
The full strength and target reports for Year 9 are now available online, and I would ask that all the prescribed targets are considered carefully and actioned over the summer holidays if necessary. There are a number of our Year 9 students leaving this year for pastures new and I would like to not only wish them all the very best in their future studies but thank them for their massive contributions to DBIS over the years.
By way of celebration all of Year 9 will be at Ocean Park this Friday for an educational and action packed excursion, returning to DBIS by 4pm in the afternoon. With the Creative Arts week to follow I am sure the year will be finished off with a flourish, and am very much looking forward to the showcase of work next Thursday evening.
I hope that all our Year 9 students, family and friends have a well deserved and restful summer holidays.
