What's Been Happening in Year 2
Last week we had a fantastic time at the theatre watching the world famous ‘Tiger That Came to Tea’ production.
The children were a credit to the school and were excellent representatives of DBIS. We all enjoyed singing along with the tiger, Sophie and her family and it was wonderful to see the excitement level (and noise level) rise in the theatre as the tiger came knocking at the front door!
The Year 2 students have been very busy in Mathematics. We have been learning how to combine coins to make a total and also how to give change. The children have also worked with cents; counting cents to make a total and giving change in dollars and cents.
In Writing lessons we have been learning the features of non-chronological reports. Along with this unit we are also learning new writing secrets; writing in the correct tense, ‘ing’ openers and question marks. Our next challenge will be to use these new ‘secrets’ when writing our own fact sheets.
The Year 2 students continue to enjoy their swimming lessons and the teachers have been very impressed with their swimming abilities and listening skills in the pool. In the second P.E lesson of the week, class teachers have been teaching team games and ball skills.
