A week in the life of DBIS
I hope everyone enjoyed the Tuen Ng Festival on Tuesday. The festival is one of my personal favourites as it is a fantastic celebration of Chinese culture and the epitome of teamwork, collaboration, commitment and competition. It’s also an excellent excuse to eat the delicious rice dumplings, Zongzi!
Even with a shortened week, school life has been as busy and rewarding as ever. This week’s highlights have included transition events for parents and children across all three phases of the school, hosting of a conference for special needs professionals from across Hong Kong and DBIS teams participating in various football and cricket tournaments.
We’re now looking forward to the Year 6 Graduation Ball, Primary Music Recital, FOBISIA Games in Bangkok, Creative Arts Week and the final School Council meeting of the year.
I also wanted to let you know that I met this week again with Ms. Chung, Principal of Wei Lun School. Since Ms. Chung’s recent appointment as Principal, I’ve been very pleased with how our school's relationship with Wei Lun has strengthened and cooperation enhanced. Most recently this has involved secondary students visiting Wei Lun to lead activities in Humanities and English lessons, Wei Lun children attending various primary shows at DBIS and practical cooperation on traffic arrangements outside both schools. We’re now planning to set up a “day in the life of DBIS and Wei Lun” exchange programme. The purpose of this programme will be for upper primary students to experience a typical school day in both schools.
Best wishes for the weekend ahead.
