What's Been Happening in Year 2
We have had an exciting couple of weeks in Year 2…
Last week, we went on our Wetland Park excursions. The Monday was a very wet day but we still had a great trip. Wednesday was much sunnier and we were able to explore the Wetlands Park outside. We explored lots of different habitats and even saw some real crocodiles! Many thanks once again to all our parent volunteers who accompanied us on our trips.
Last week in writing, following a class shared write, we planned and wrote our own versions of the ‘Welcome Home Little Bear’ stories. We concentrated on using apostrophes, conjunctions and full stops and capital letters. Our stories were all about Little Bear who tries to find a new home in lots of different habitats.
This week is our Big Award for Writing, which is a great opportunity for the children to use all their writing skills that they have learnt throughout the year. This term’s piece of writing is based around a Night Zookeeper. The children watched some videos about the Night Zookeeper before planning and writing their own exciting Night Zoo story.
In Maths, we have been continuing to practise doubling and halving by partitioning and are now focusing on tackling a range of mathematical problems. Some problems involve working in a team and trying out different methods to reach the solution.
