What's Been Happening in Year 1
This week Year 1 enjoyed some fun Green week activities.
We collected and sorted recyclable materials and designed a fantastic (recycle) bin and also a rubbish (landfill) bin. We could think of lots of things we can recycle and not many things that we should put in the landfull bin. We came to the conclusion that we really don’t need to throw anything away. We were lucky enough to listen to Green Monday who told us how important it is, not only for our health, but also for the environment to eat less meat. We all walked to school on Tuesday and all wore green to show how much we care about the environment. Plastic Free Seas also came and had a interesting talk on recycling. Please encourage your child to take ownership of your recycling at home and perhaps pass on the responsibility of sorting and putting it into the correct bins.
Year 1 also started their new Super Sturdy Structure IPC topic this week. We are amazed at how many different types of building there are in the world and they are all used for different purposes. Don’t forget your IPC challenge! Please take a photo next to a Super Sturdy Structure that you see on your holiday!
In literacy we worked on our Three Little Pigs story and worked hard on acting out the story, creating our story board and our rewrite. In maths we have been learning about patterns and we are getting good at working out which number comes next.
Play rehearsals have begun and the children have been practicing in class. We all know our lines now and are working on the delivery of them.
We hope you all have a wonderful Easter break and look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for our summer term learning and fun.
