What's Been Happening in Year 4
Last week was everyone’s favourite - Book Week!
The students did an amazing job of dressing up as their chosen character and the Year 4 teaching team looked equally impressive as the crayons from The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. A lot of thought and effort went into everyone’s costumes, so thank you parents with your help on those.
The whole week was a celebration of reading. The students went on renegade reads to different parts of the school - taking over offices, garden spaces and other classrooms to enjoy listening to stories. The students designed their doors as clues to a book and had great fun going around the school trying to work out the answers; there are a lot of David Walliams fans around!
The Year 4s wrote their own short stories, as well as writing the resolution to stories written across the year groups. These were then passed on to the Year 5 and 6s to complete, we can’t wait to read the finished products! We also had a visit from Reena Bhodjwani, a real life author, who shared her book and some of her story-telling secrets with the students. It was wonderful to hear her experiences and see her inspire the children to believe in themselves.
This week we are back to our established lessons but the fun doesn’t stop! Children are excited to be continue developing their products in our Young Entrepreneur topic and are thinking about how best to persuade people in English. Be warned they may be trying out their techniques on you!
