A week in the life of DBIS

Head of School

“You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book”. - Dr. Seuss

Celebrating Book Week has been the School focus since Monday. The week-long extravaganza is our annual celebration of books and is aimed at inspiring a love of reading. A host of brilliant events have taken place across all three campuses and it’s been a joy to see the entire school community showing so much enthusiasm for reading. Thank you to Mr. Jonny Haines for organising and leading the fun packed week with such passion and creativity.

Last Saturday’s International Food Fair was also a great success and a fantastic community event. Many children, staff, parents and members of the DB community “cocked a snook” at the wet and cold weather to join us on the day. It was also brilliant to see so many of our students performing on the various stages and helping out at numerous stalls.  The Food Fair continues to be a one of the major highlights of the School’s calendar and a reminder of the massive commitment made by staff and parents in the life of the school. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Fair and in particular to members of the School’s PTSA Committee for their hours of hard work and meticulous planning. Although all the Fair’s costs are still being counted, over $350,000 HKD has been recorded in revenue, and the final profit will be used by the PTSA to support various school projects during this and next year.

Finally, I wanted to make you aware that a group of secondary Mathematicians will be competing in the North East Asian Mathematics Competition in Tokyo this weekend while our U13 FOBISIA team will be competing in Jakarta next week. I know you will want to join me in extending our very best wishes to all the students and staff who will be representing the school in both competitions.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend and Happy Book Day!
