What's Been Happening in Year 3

Primary Year 3

It has been a whirlwind of a few weeks with the Year 3 show ‘A Home for All’.

The show was a true extravaganza and it was so much fun performing to our friends and parents. The children did such a magnificent job rehearsing, performing, designing costumes and props. It was wonderful to see it all come to life!  It was a very exciting time for us all. All of the hard work paid off and the children should be extremely proud of themselves. A big thank you to all the parents who lent a hand during this time. You all worked so hard and we could have not done it all without you.

The children have been great coming back to the classroom and returning to a timetable of Writing, Reading, Maths and IPC. In Maths we have been working on addition, subtraction, multiplication and money. The use of Mathletics as a learning tool really is having an impact on understanding as well as providing great opportunities for interactive, fun learning. This has also been coupled with our termly assessments.

In Writing, the children have been revisiting the structure and vocabulary used in a narrative story and enjoyed writing a story about an adventure in outer space. ‘A new planet has been discovered, who found it, how, where is it and what happens next?...it's up to you! Who can make their story OUT OF THIS WORLD?!’ The children certainly took us on an adventure to remember!

In IPC, we have began our new topic of ‘Significant People’. The children will be looking at the concepts of Significance, Cause and Effect, Perspective. At first they will be looking at who is significant to them. Throughout the unit, they will gain an understanding on how people’s perspective on significant people can be contributed to the actions and impact of the person.
