A week in the life of DBIS
Year 1 and 2 Sports Day was a joy to witness today.
It was lovely to see the children taking part in a series of challenging games with such enthusiasm and commitment. Passion and commitment were also the order of the day during this week’s Primary football tournament, Secondary’s ISTA drama weekend, the Year 5 exhibition of learning, the visit to Ark Eden by Year 3, the beach clean-up undertaken by Year 2 and during the theatre visit by Year 4. Thank you to all the staff and parents who supported our students during all of these great learning opportunities.
I also wanted to extend a big thank you to the parents and committee members who have organised this evening’s PTSA Christmas Quiz. Having such a supportive group of parents is fantastic. I believe the PTSA now has a significant list of volunteers. However, I’m sure the committee would appreciate even more. Please don’t hesitate to contact a member of the PTSA committee if you are in a position to help.
We are now looking forward to next week’s annual community Christmas Concert, “Carols on the Pitch.” The concert has become a real highlight of the school calendar as it provides us with an opportunity to celebrate the joy of Christmas through music and song with the wider Discovery Bay community. We look forward to welcoming you all to our unique community event celebrating Christmas.
Finally, I’m delighted to make you aware that the school recently received the Council of International Schools' (CIS) preliminary report on school accreditation, which contains some key commendations and recommendations as expected. CIS have also indicated that we are ready to begin the self-study phase of the process from January onwards. I have attached the report’s concluding comments here, as they should be a source of pride for the entire school community.
Best wishes for the weekend ahead.
