Year 9 News
As the end of the first term of the school year approaches I would like to congratulate all the Year 9 students on their tremendous efforts and achievements so far.
I have been incredibly impressed by them as a year group and it has been fantastic to see how they challenge themselves both inside and outside the classroom. The Week Without Walls Borneo Community Service highlighted the determination and resolve of many of the Year 9 students, making a massive contribution to a most worthwhile rainforest conservation project.
Of particular note was the success of the Under 14 Boys A grade and Girls A grade football teams in reaching the finals of the HKSSF tournament at Kings Park. At the time of writing several of our Year 9 students are representing DBIS at the FOBISIA tournament in Shanghai. We look forward to hearing how Stephen Fung, Kenneth Gordon, Alexandra Vogiadjis, Rachel Chipner, Ryan Mae Zawada, Olivia Flavell, Kim Floyd and Grace Fanstone have enjoyed competing at this level.
Last Friday the deadline for our Year 9 students selecting their optional subject areas to study in Years 10 and 11 passed. I would ask if you still have not submitted their options to please do so via the Parent Portal as soon as possible. The last few weeks of term will involve the culmination of the Discovery Lessons in which the Year 9 students have taken a lead role – the end results will no doubt be of great variety and interest. I look forward to seeing all Year 9 students and parents at Carols on the Pitch.
