At DBIS Secondary School we are proud of our language provision.
All students take Mandarin in years 7 and 8 with the addition of either French or Spanish. Students then choose either French, Spanish or Mandarin to study in greater depth weekly in Years 9 to 11.
The languages department believes in the importance of bringing a language to life by spending time in a country in which it is spoken. One example of this is during our overseas Week Without Walls students have the opportunity to visit and further experience Mandarin in China. Students also enjoy the opportunity to practice their impressive language skills.
Throughout the year, we offer our students a wide variety of extracurricular languages clubs. Our well resourced audio-visual and computer suites provide opportunities for focused practice in the key skills of listening and speaking while a great many language assistants contribute to the achievement of excellent levels of oral capabilities.
