A secure, safe and happy childhood, together with high quality early learning, is important in its’ own right.

The wellbeing of our students is of paramount importance in the Early Years so that they have the secure foundations to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow. Through positive relationships with teachers and peers our students learn to be resilient and independent. Each child’s own efforts and achievements are celebrated.  Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED) is a Prime area of our Early Years curriculum, it runs through and supports learning in all other areas. PSED develops quickly in response to relationships and experiences and is a vehicle for developing kindness and compassion for others. Enhancing our aims for all our students to flourish in all aspects of learning is the teaching of the personal goals. Our Early Years students are respectful, thoughtful, communicators. They are adaptable and able to co-operate on enquiry. Through the teaching of the personal goals our students learn to have confidence in their own abilities.

The wider pastoral care of our students is woven through daily provision. An onsite nurse is available to attend to the medical needs of our students and to support the understanding of healthy lifestyles. Individual support is provided to meet the additional needs of a child, as we recognise that children are born ready, able and eager to learn, however development is not an automatic process.

The values of the Early Years ensure our students arrive well prepared for the step up to formal schooling in Nursery and leave us in the Reception Year ready for the next stage of the curriculum in Primary. Transitions at the end of Nursery and Reception are carefully planned for. Our Reception students and teachers forge strong relationships with our Year 5 students and teachers allowing them to quickly form new friendships as they transition through to Year 1. Our Nursery students visit with their new class teacher in the summer term and become readily familiar with their new surroundings.

Our admissions procedures allow for seamless transition into the Early Years with as much information shared between parents and teachers as possible to allow for early opportunities for success. As part of this process we encourage you to come and visit us prior to selecting our school for your child. We conduct tours each third Thursday of the month during term times. The tours are tailored to the needs of each cohort of students and places are limited. Early selection of tours is advised.
